Iron Champs Prepares For Its Early Mission!

Mark June 28th on your calendar. ✅

Get your canoes off the racks and paddles in hand! The 2025 Iron Champs, celebrating its 40th year, is upon us. More than 1,000 paddlers will test their skills at beautiful Mission Bay, San Diego Saturday, June 28th, or just come out to have fun and enjoy the feeling of ohana. There are divisions for novices and experienced paddlers, including an Open division, and races for age 10 and under up to Masters and Unlimited. In other words, everyone is welcome! The race is sponsored by San Diego’s Kai Elua Outrigger Canoe Club and SCORA.

“Iron Champs is hands-down the biggest and best outrigger race on the mainland,” says Noelle Murphy, from Kai Elua. “It brings together top paddlers from all over the U.S., Hawaii, and even Tahiti, and it’s a super fun event for all ages. We’ll have food and merchandise and vendors, and our annual novice dance contest is always a highlight.”

Win a V1 rudderless racing canoe!

Another fan favorite at Iron Champs is the raffle, and this year participants will be able to win a new ARETAHITI rudderless V1 Marara—a sleek, lightweight racing canoe that glides through the water. The demand for V1 rudderless canoes is greater than ever, as paddlers are discovering that paddling rudderless is a great way to master paddling skills and gain full control of your canoe. Buy a raffle ticket—or several. This is your chance to own one of these high-performance canoes and perfect your paddling skills!
