Te Aito 2025 is only a few “strokes” away—June 4 to 7! This annual outrigger canoe race, held in French Polynesia, features top Tahitian paddlers and attracts competitors from around the world. It’s a grueling 20 to 30 km (12 to18 mile) race combining skill and endurance, through lagoons and open ocean, against the beautiful backdrop of Tahiti.
Get a glimpse of this upcoming event by viewing last year’s Ti Aito 2024 highlights. Or if you’re a hardcore enthusiast, catch the entire 2024 event at Ti Aito 2024 (LIVE – English).
Te Aito is not only a sporting event, but also a cultural celebration, rich in the Polynesian virtues of teamwork, strength, a respect for the water—and championship paddling. Te Aito, after all, means “champion” in Tahitian.
A Champion Paddler and ARE TAHITI Coach

One recent champion of this event will be on hand, with paddle in hand—celebrated Tahitian Iloha Eychenne. Iloha has won the Te Aito Tahiti three years in a row—2022, 2023, and 2024—and is currently IVF world sprint champion, after winning the 2024 Hilo World Sprints. ARE TAHITI is proud to have Iloha teaching paddling clinics at events throughout the year, just as they are proud to be affiliated with Te Aito, an event they intend to become even more involved with in the future. It’s one of the many ways ARE TAHITI / ShopOutrigger contributes to the growth of outrigger paddling throughout the world.
Viewers can watch/stream Te Aito 2025 live on Ocean Paddler TV, YouTube, or on the FaceBook Channel. Don’t miss it!
